The village of Adverse Camber does not, of course, exist.
Except that it does.
In the course of my already fairly lengthy life, I have moved house an unconscionable number of times (25 and counting …) and have always lived in hamlets and villages or on the outskirts of small market towns – from the far south west to just this side of the Scottish border (and many points in between).
I’ve kept a personal diary for over 40 years, and the village of Adverse Camber represents half a century’s memories of life in rural England, recounted with a little artistic licence and a great deal of affection.
